Wonderful, very realistic little donkey. Looking forward to painting it and adding it to the covered wagon diorama I am working on. I also bought a Speira gold prospector figure, who will be pulling the donkey in my diorama.

Donkeys played an important role in 19th century America as pack animals, carrying goods across rugged terrain. Here are some interesting facts about packing donkeys:

  • Donkeys were highly valued for their surefootedness and ability to carry heavy loads over long distances.
  • They were used to transport a wide range of goods, from food and water to mining equipment and building supplies.
  • Donkeys were often preferred over horses for packing because they were hardier, required less food and water, and were less prone to injury.
  • The use of packing donkeys increased dramatically during the California Gold Rush in the late 1840s and early 1850s, as prospectors used them to transport supplies to and from the gold fields.
  • Donkey trains, consisting of several animals loaded with goods, were a common sight on the trails and roads of the American West.
  • Packing donkeys were often subject to mistreatment and overloading, leading to injuries and even death.
  • The use of packing donkeys declined in the late 19th century as railroads and other forms of transportation became more common, but they remain an important part of rural life in many parts of the world today.

This is a high quality miniature 3D printed by Speira Miniatures in Sweden.

You can paint it as any normal miniature, no need to wash it beforehand. It is delivered unpainted.

Usable for dioarama, wargaming or tabletop role-playing games, such as Dungeon and Dragons, Warhammer, Pathfinder and so on. Also great as decor in your home if you order the large scales. We can always transform any model into a bust if you like, please contact us.

Due to the inherit nature of 3D printing the miniatures might contain imperfections and could require additional cleanup where the support have been; use sand paper or green putty for example. Print layers will sometimes be visable.

3D resin is brittle, even if we use a mixture than makes it more flexible. However it cannot be compared with the normal plastic that is used for example Warhammer, Marx or Conte miniatures. Handle the 3D prints with care, a fall can break them. Glue info here.
