Epidexipteryx hui is a remarkable dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 160 million years ago, in what is now China. It is known for its small size and distinctive feathered features. Here are some interesting facts about Epidexipteryx hui:

Tiny Size: Epidexipteryx hui was a diminutive dinosaur, measuring only about 25 centimeters (10 inches) in length. This makes it one of the smallest known non-avian dinosaurs.

Feathered Dinosaur: Like many other small theropod dinosaurs from the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous periods, Epidexipteryx was covered in feathers. Its feathers were likely used for insulation, display, and possibly even gliding.

Long Tail Feathers: One of the most distinctive features of Epidexipteryx is its long tail feathers, which were composed of filamentous structures known as “proximal ribbon-like filaments” and “distal elongated filaments.” These feathers may have had a role in courtship or display.

Beak and Teeth: Epidexipteryx had a toothless beak at the front of its jaws, which is a characteristic seen in many advanced theropod dinosaurs. However, it also had sharp teeth further back in its mouth for processing food.

Diet: While the exact diet of Epidexipteryx is not known, it was likely an omnivore, feeding on a variety of small prey, including insects and other small vertebrates, as well as possibly some plant material.

Jurassic China: Fossils of Epidexipteryx have been found in the Tiaojishan Formation in Liaoning Province, China, an area known for its exceptional preservation of feathered dinosaurs and early birds.

Taxonomic Placement: Epidexipteryx hui belongs to the group of theropod dinosaurs and is considered a member of the maniraptoran clade, which includes dromaeosaurs and birds.

Feathered Dinosaur Diversity: The discovery of Epidexipteryx, with its unique feather structures, adds to the growing body of evidence for the diversity of feathered dinosaurs in the Late Jurassic period.

Evolutionary Significance: Epidexipteryx is significant in our understanding of the evolution of feathers and their various forms in non-avian dinosaurs, shedding light on the transition from scaly reptiles to feathered birds.

Scientific Discovery: The study of Epidexipteryx hui and other feathered dinosaurs found in Liaoning Province has greatly advanced our knowledge of dinosaur biology and the intricate evolutionary history of feathers.

This is a high quality miniature 3D printed by Speira Miniatures in Sweden.

You can paint it as any normal miniature, no need to wash it beforehand. It is delivered unpainted.

Usable for dioarama, wargaming or tabletop role-playing games, such as Dungeon and Dragons, Warhammer, Pathfinder and so on. Also great as decor in your home if you order the large scales. We can always transform any model into a bust if you like, please contact us.

Due to the inherit nature of 3D printing the miniatures might contain imperfections and could require additional cleanup where the support have been; use sand paper or green putty for example. Print layers will sometimes be visable.

3D resin is brittle, even if we use a mixture than makes it more flexible. However it cannot be compared with the normal plastic that is used for example Warhammer, Marx or Conte miniatures. Handle the 3D prints with care, a fall can break them. Glue info here.
